Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ) training in: Water Management

 

Start your career as a licensed water operator who performs process control duties in production or distribution of drinking water or operations for companies that operate public water systems. Galveston College is a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) training provider for individuals who need to meet education requirements for occupational licenses administered by the Permitting and Registration Support Division of TCEQ. Many states have numerous levels of licenses for water plant and system operators. Numerous operators are expected to reach retirement age in the next decade. As these operators retire, those positions will need to be filled

Level 1 Classes

Open to those with no experience. This training will prepare participants for the Class D certification Texas Commission on Environmental Quality state examination as a wastewater system operator.

 

 Requirements for a D License:

  •  Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Must pass criminal background check and request to test with TCEQ.
  • Successfully complete one of the training courses below.

Basic Water Works Operation

EPCT 1015 (20 hrs)

Start your career as a licensed water operator who performs process control duties in production or distribution of drinking water or operations for companies that operate public water systems. Gain knowledge in the origin and characteristics of water, disinfection, storage, and distribution systems.

Basic Wastewater Operations

EPCT 1025 (20 hrs)

Wastewater operators manage system machines using control boards to transfer or treat water or wastewater. Discover the need for regulation of wastewater discharge to protect receiving streams and public health, safety, and welfare.

Level 2 Classes

Open to those who already have a D license and are working in the industry. These are elective training courses for the Wastewater and Water Operator C license

Requirements for a C License:

• Current TCEQ Class D license.

• Education: High School diploma or GED & 2 years' experience.

Ready to Register?

Registrations must be completed 1 week prior to classes starting. Students can register online, by email or in- person on the first floor of Moody Hall, M-142.
