NEW! Minecraft® Redstone Engineers
Take the next step beyond simply “playing” Minecraft and become a true
Redstone engineer. Expand your Redstone knowledge by constructing your own carnival with a variety of mini-games,
roller coasters, and attractions powered by Redstone. Learn how to use Command and Structure blocks to incorporate
them into your builds. Activate your skills and take your Minecraft structures to the next level! Students must own a
Java version of Minecraft to access their projects at home. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are
Use your favorite game to learn the basics of modding and foundations of programming. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods! Introductory coding will also be taught through a simulated environment inspired by Minecraft. Student projects will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students must own a Java version of Minecraft to access their projects at home. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning students can create more advanced projects that build on previous years.
NEW! Inventor’s League - Prototyping for the Future!
Become an inventor of the future! Learn ‘rapid prototyping’ and problem solving as you conceptualize and design a product to solve a critical global issue. Each day begins with inspirational profiles of young inventors, such as the eleven-year-old who coded a robot to find victims of natural disasters. Next, research a problem to tackle in medicine, architecture, the environment, or a topic of your choosing. Once your vision is complete, learn how to draft 2D designs, create 3D models, and develop a website to pitch your ideas to the class. Student projects will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
I’m So Dramatic
Do you have a flair for the dramatic? In this class, the actors will begin to build a strong foundation in the performing arts. They will learn acting skills through theatre games, basic movement/dance skills, and scene study. This is a great class for socializing and fostering a love for theatre. This class will culminate in a short play performance for family and friends to showcase the young actors!
Cooking for Kids
Inspire the love of cooking by exploring the different ways of preparing food. Students work in teams to develop an understanding of recipes and to embrace the heart of a chef; at the end of each class, we eat the day’s menu.
Baking for Kids
Do you like to help out in the kitchen? Do you want to understand the science of baking? Do you have a sweet tooth and want to improve your baking skills? Let us introduce you to the fundamentals and fun of baking!
Cookies and Decorating
Take your baking to the next level by baking fancy cookies and cupcakes and understanding the beginning of decorating. This is a great way to explore your culinary interests.
Babysitting Bootcamp: BLAST!
(babysitter lessons and safety training) is an important training program for potential babysitters and parents considering hiring a babysitter. This program is exciting and interactive, providing extensive training in pediatric first aid, household safety, and the fundamentals of childcare. Includes CPR, current practice for safety and injury prevention, First Aid Basics quick reference tools and more!
Guitar, ukulele, singing, beginning keyboarding, and songwriting. Fun and creative individual music lessons for kids, and teens, Beginners are welcome as are students with special learning needs. Course cost covers five 30 minute lessons, scheduled individually. Parents must accompany children under 16.
