This Occupational Skills Award certificate program takes 160 hours to complete and is comprised of two courses and pairs nicely with our Diesel Engine Testing and Repair courses.  Local employers have asked for training which will allow the student to gain an understanding of Automotive Climate Control.  Our 2-part program will help you explore and familiarize yourself with the theories and systems of Automotive Air Conditioning and Heating Systems.  .Course 1 is typically offered in the Fall and 2 in the Spring.  Courses may be taken out of sequence.

 

Course 1

Emphasis is given to the basic refrigeration cycle, diagnosis and repair of system malfunctions, manual and electronic climate control systems, and safety.  EPA guidelines for refrigerant handling, new refrigerant replacements are presented.  Classes are taught at the Ball High Automotive Shop.  

 

Course 2

Students who successfully complete both the Diesel Engine Testing and Repair and Automotive Climate control courses (360 hours) can be awarded a level 1 certificate in Automotive Diesel Technician.
