The Welding Technology Program at Galveston College is designed to provide hands-on training on the same equipment used by business and industry. Students learn various welding processes including but not limited to shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and gas metal arc welding. Students learn to perform welding skills in all positions and are able to acquire knowledge and experience in welding, layout, and fitting skills in order to prepare students for careers in gas welding, arc welding, specialty welding, and/or other areas of welding.

Galveston’s Welding Technologies program is an NCCER accredited program designed to put you the student, on a career path that is the backbone of the construction industry. Our program provides a comprehensive theoretical and hands on training to meet the industry’s demand for qualified Welders. Level 1 Welding Block
• WLDG 1023. Welding Safety Tools and Equipment
• WLDG 1007. Introduction to Welding Multiple Processes
• WLDG 1028. Introduction to Shield Metal Arc Welding
• WLDG 1035. Introduction to Pipe Welding
Intro to Multi Process will get you started with your Basic Welding Safety and an introduction to Oxy-fuel cutting, as well as your introduction to welding by using GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) Processes including Flux-Core and MIG.
Intro Shielded Metal Arc Welding Processes gives emphasis on power sources, electrode selection, oxy-fuel cutting, and various joint designs. Instruction provided in SMAW fillet welds and V-Groove in various positions.

Intro to Gas Tungsten Arc Welding teaches principals of (GTAW), set-up and use of GTAW equipment, and the safe use of tools. Welding instruction in various positions and joint configurations.
