Galveston College to host virtual presentation on self-care planning

The Galveston College Outreach and Retention Committee will host a virtual presentation on self-care planning on Wednesday, July 28, at 1 p.m. via Zoom video conference. The speaker is Denysse Guzman, a counselor with the Gulf Coast Center.

The presentation is free and open to the general public.

The presentation is designed for community members as an introduction to self-care planning. The objectives of the presentation are to explore self-care domains and to begin to create a self-care plan.

Guzman is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. She earned an Associate of Science from Galveston College, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from the University of Houston-Victoria.

Her experience includes working with individuals dealing with complex trauma in residential settings following abuse, assault or disaster. She uses a person-centered approach, motivational interviewing, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy in working with individuals and groups.
