Galveston College HVAC program visited Mood Gardens

HVAC Quickstart students visit Moody Gardens

Students in Galveston College’s Quickstart HVAC Helper Training class recently enjoyed a visit to Moody Gardens HVAC and electrical operations plant.

On this trip, students had a chance to expand their horizons from practice HVAC equipment in their classroom to massive, commercial equipment in the real world, thanks to the generosity of Moody Gardens Human Resources Manager Kathleen Durham, Plant Engineer David Greer and teacher Karen Alsept, who facilitated the experience.

While on site, the students toured the chillers that provide air conditioning for the Moody Gardens complex, the control room and other areas of the complex.

The free program is funded by a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission. New HVAC Quickstart classes will run from June 4 to July 30 from 5-10:30 p.m. at Galveston College’s Applied Technology Center.
