Puppy cuddles, chair massages and finals survival kits to highlight Fall 2019 De-Stress Week

Final exams are Dec. 6-12 at Galveston College. The Office of Student Activities, in conjunction with the Student Government Association, has planned a variety of activities Dec. 2-5 to help students, faculty and staff decompress before finals.

Monday, Dec. 2
DIY Finals Survival Kit
Moody Lobby by Welcome Desk  – 5-7 p.m.
Come create a Finals Survival Kit. Snack foods, beverages and other surprises will be available.
Free 15-Minute Chair Massages
Cheney Student Center Lounge (SW 110) – 1-5 p.m.
Unwind with a free chair massage. Massages will be provided by students from Galveston College Massage Therapy program. Healthy snacks and water will be provided.

Behind the Cheney Student Center near the Food for Thought distribution – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cuddle with some adorable puppies. Pets provided by the Galveston Island Humane Society. Pastries and drinks will be provided.
Thursday, Dec. 5
Blood Drive – Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center
Seibel Wing West – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Studies show that doing for others promotes psychological well-being. Save a life. Donate blood.
Grab and Go Nite Bites
Regents Hall Hallway by the Welcome Desk – 5-7 p.m.
Come mingle with Student Government Association officers. Light refreshments will be served.

De-Stress Week: Pet Therapy with Galveston Island Humane Society

The Galveston College Student Activities office will sponsor pet therapy with the Galveston Humane Society as part of Fall 2018 De-Stress Week on Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Seibel Wing Patio.

What better way to de-stress for finals than to pet a puppy?

Petsgiving Pet Supply Drive

The Go Nuclear/Nuclear Medicine Technology Club will host a Petsgiving pet supply drive to benefit the Galveston Island Humane Society, Friends of League City Animal Shelter and Bay Area Pet Adoptions from Oct. 15 to Dec. 6. Donations will be delivered on Dec. 7.

The club is collecting dog and cat toys, collars/leashes, dog and cat food, milk replacement powder, bleach, paper towels, blankets, zipper lock baggies and other cleaning supplies.

A collection box is located in the Allied Health department.
