Puppy cuddles, chair massages and finals survival kits to highlight Fall 2019 De-Stress Week

Final exams are Dec. 6-12 at Galveston College. The Office of Student Activities, in conjunction with the Student Government Association, has planned a variety of activities Dec. 2-5 to help students, faculty and staff decompress before finals.

DIY Finals Survival Kit
Moody Lobby by Welcome Desk  – 5-7 p.m.
Come create a Finals Survival Kit. Snack foods, beverages and other surprises will be available.
Free 15-Minute Chair Massages
Cheney Student Center Lounge (SW 110) – 1-5 p.m.
Unwind with a free chair massage. Massages will be provided by students from Galveston College Massage Therapy program. Healthy snacks and water will be provided.

Blood Drive – Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center
Seibel Wing West – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Grab and Go Nite Bites
Regents Hall Hallway by the Welcome Desk – 5-7 p.m.
Come mingle with Student Government Association officers. Light refreshments will be served.

Massage Therapy program offers Swedish massages

The Galveston College Continuing Education Massage Therapy program will offer Swedish massages for $25 per one-hour session from May 6 to May 23 on the main campus of Galveston College, 4015 Avenue Q, Galveston, Texas.

Payment is required at the Business Services window on the second floor of Moody Hall prior to scheduling an appointment.

Massage Therapy School or Program in Galveston

Galveston College offers new Massage Therapy program

 

Galveston College will offer a new program in Massage Therapy beginning this fall.

The courses, which will be offered through the college’s Continuing Education department, start Wednesday, Aug. 29, and continue through Dec. 6.

Classes are offered Mondays through Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Room 252 of Regents Hall on the Galveston College campus, 4015 Avenue Q, Galveston, Texas.

Fall semester courses include Massage Fundamentals I, Massage: Business Practices and Professional Ethics, and Massage: Anatomy and Physiology for Massage.

Spring semester courses include Health and Hygiene, Chair Massage, Fundamentals of Massage II, and an Internship, which will be include proper massage protocol for various populations.

Upon completion of the two-semester, 546-contact-hour program, students will be eligible to take the state board exam.

Cost per semester is $1,500. Payment plans are available.
