Galveston College closes through Saturday, Feb. 20

Due to ongoing efforts to restore infrastructure affected by this week’s unprecedented winter storm, Galveston College will be closed through Saturday, Feb. 20. All online and on-campus classes and events are canceled. All Whitecaps baseball and softball games scheduled for Friday, Feb. 19,  through Monday, Feb. 21, will be rescheduled.

Galveston College’s David Glenn Hunt Memorial Library services are available online at https://library.gc.edu/home.

Campus dining services remains open for Student Housing residents at Mr. C’s Deli and Bistro.

On-campus instruction and operations are expected to resume as normal on Monday, Feb. 22.

Galveston College closes through Friday, Feb. 19

Due to the continued winter weather resulting in numerous power outages in our region, Galveston College will be closed through Friday, Feb. 19.

All online and face-to-face classes, labs, clinicals, exams, events and student activities are canceled through Friday, Feb. 19.

On-campus instruction and operations are expected to resume as normal on Monday, Feb. 22.

Campus dining services remains open for Student Housing residents at Mr. C’s Deli and Bistro.

Galveston College will provide daily updates via official college communication channels throughout the entirety of this event. Please monitor college email, social media, GC.edu and Galveston College alerts.

Galveston College closes Tuesday, Feb. 16

Due to the winter weather and widespread power outages, Galveston College will be closed Tuesday, Feb.16. All classes are canceled.

 

Essential services, including Food Services, Student Housing, Campus Security and Facilities, will be available.

 

Temperatures in the Gulf Coast region are expected to drop below freezing for several days, with a chance of winter precipitation including a mix of rain, ice and snow. Students, faculty and staff should plan to stay off the roadways.

Galveston College Moves to Remote Operations and Classes for Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 15-16

Due to the winter weather that is predicted for the Texas Gulf Coast region early next week, Galveston College will move to remote operations for Monday, Feb. 15, and Tuesday, Feb.16.

• All on-campus face-to-face classes will be moved online.
• All off-campus face-to-face instruction, such as clinicals, should not meet on Monday and Tuesday.
• All employees will work remotely on Monday and Tuesday, with the exception of essential personnel who will be notified by their supervisors.

Essential services, including Food Services, Facilities and Student Housing, will be available.

All on-campus events are canceled for Sunday through Tuesday, Feb. 14-16. Online events, such as the lecture series event, will occur.

The college will be open regular hours on Saturday, Feb. 13.

Beginning on Sunday morning, please do not come to campus unless instructed to do so by your supervisor. Conditions are expected to begin to worsen Sunday evening, so you are encouraged to stay off all roadways.

A strong arctic cold front is expected to move through the area beginning Sunday evening. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing for several days, with a chance of winter precipitation including a mix of rain, ice and snow.

A decision about Wednesday will be made by Tuesday at 4 p.m.
