TRiO Upward Bound participants visit Gator Country Adventure Park

TRiO Upward Bound participants visited Gator Country Adventure Park in Beaumont, Texas, on June 15, after a campus visit to Lamar University.

Gator Country provided educational enrichment for the students by teaching them the history of how the location was developed, why it was developed, the biology of and habitat requirements of American alligators, crocodiles and many different reptiles that were received through rescues, donations or other institutions.

Galveston College Upward Bound, a TRIO Program funded through the U.S. Department of Education, is a college preparatory program designed to serve 60 9th–12th grade students at Ball High School. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rates at which participants enroll in and graduate from institutions of post secondary education by increasing the academic performance and motivation of participants.
