Galveston College will celebrate its 51st Commencement Ceremony Friday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Galveston Island Convention Center, 56th Street and Seawall Boulevard, Galveston.
Scott Branum, director of admissions and registrar, said 562 students will receive 661 associate degrees and certificates.
Dr. W. Myles Shelton, Galveston College president, will offer a welcome and introduce platform guests.
Raymond Lewis, Jr., chair of the Galveston Community College District Board of Regents, will bring greetings from the board.
Speakers will include students Claire Rodriguez and Daniel Vela.
Don Davison, president of the Faculty Senate, will certify the graduates and Dr. Cissy Matthews, vice president of instruction, will introduce the candidates for degrees and certificates.
Music will be provided by the Galveston College Community Chorale Men’s Ensemble and TMH Company, featuring Katie Carrington, viola; Laura Cividino, violin; Annamarie Reader, cello; Hanna Watson, violin; and Theresa Hanebury, conductor.
