Available Aid

Galveston College’s financial aid program assists students who would otherwise be unable to afford higher education. While students and their families are expected to cover most costs, the college recognizes that additional support is sometimes necessary. When eligible students demonstrate financial need, the college offers assistance through local, state, and federal funds whenever possible.

Grants

Grants are funds that you do not have to repay unless you withdraw from school or owe a refund. They are awarded to students with financial need. The amount you receive depends on factors such as the cost of attendance, your family’s contribution (or student aid index), your enrollment status, and whether you attend for the full academic year. Galveston College offers two types of grants: federal grants and state grants from Texas.

Waivers and Exemptions

Texas offers tuition exemption and waiver programs for public colleges and universities, authorized by the Legislature. These programs, both mandatory and optional, target specific populations and apply to formula-funded courses, ensuring financial support for education costs. Formula funding allocates funds among higher education institutions, covering courses beyond student tuition and fees. For more information: http://www.collegeforalltexans.com/
