Details For Fall 2022 Graduates
All graduates in the 2022-2023 academic year (Summer and Fall 2022 and Spring 2023) are invited to our May 12th, 2023 graduation ceremony! I will send out more Ceremony details in the Spring 2023 semester, but you can always check right here for updated information sooner. Happy New Year!
2022 Post-Commencement Live Stream
In addition to general course requirements, students must also meet the following requirements to be eligible to graduate from Galveston College:
- GPA must be 2.00 or higher
- At least 25% of certificate/degree requirements must be completed in residence at Galveston College
Please note: Outstanding financial or other obligations that create a hold on the student account at Galveston College will prevent the student from receiving a copy of his/her diploma.

Galveston College offers one formal commencement exercise held at the end of the spring semester. All graduating students are encouraged to participate in the ceremony. Please check the Galveston College website as commencement approaches for ceremony details.
Students who are graduating with an Associate degree (A.A., A.S., or A.A.S), who have at least 24 semester hours in residence, who have completed at least two semesters at Galveston College, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted will graduate cum laude (with honors).
Students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree (B.A.S.), who
have at least 45 upper-level semester hours at
Galveston College, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
on all work attempted will graduate cum laude
(with honors).
Students who are graduating with an Associate degree, who have at least 24 semester hours in residence, who have completed at least two semesters at Galveston College, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.75 (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted will graduate magna cum laude (with high honors).
Students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree, who have at
least 45 upper-level semester hours at Galveston
College, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.75 (on a 4.0 scale) on all
work attempted will graduate magna cum laude
(with high honors).
Students who are graduating with an Associate degree, who have at least 24 semester hours in residence, who have completed at least two semesters at Galveston College, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.9 (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted will graduate summa cum laude (with highest honors).
Students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree, who have at
least 45 upper-level semester hours at Galveston
College, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.9 (on a 4.0 scale) on all
work attempted will graduate summa cum laude
(with highest honors).
All honor graduates wear specially colored tassels at the commencement ceremony. * These tassels will be provided to the student at no charge the day of the ceremony, prior to commencement.

*Students who received red, white, or gold honors tassels in a previous year may wear those on your cap. All other students who earned honors will be provided a 2022 tassel in the appropriate color the day of the ceremony, May 13th.
