The Whitecaps Mascot: Meet Rip Tide!
The Legend of the Whitecap
On a breezy September 18th, the oceans stirred and waves whispered across the globe,
something big was rolling ashore. Born from the swirling currents of the Seven Seas
and raised by the rhythm of the Gulf Coast, Rip Tide, Galveston College’s mighty Whitecap,
was born. Not a fish, not a shark, but a living wave, full of energy, school spirit,
great dance moves and unstoppable momentum.
Rip Tide has surfed the world’s wildest waters, carving waves in Tahiti, cruising coral reefs in Australia, and even challenging seagulls to dance-offs in Brazil (don’t ask who won). But no matter how far the tide took him, he always returned home to Galveston College.
A proud Whitecap through and through, Rip Tide’s mission is clear: support student success and flood the campus with school spirit. You'll find him hyping the crowd at baseball and softball games, striking selfie poses, and reminding every student to go with the flow, but aim for greatness.
Whether he's catching waves or foul balls, Rip Tide is always in the game, and always making a splash.
