What is the new Student Success Center at Galveston College?
Galveston College’s new Student Success Center (SSC) opened its doors on February
2025, in the college’s Mary Moody Northen Center.
The Student Success Center is a centralized hub designed to support student achievement
and engagement. The SSC brings together tutoring, career placement, Building Bridges
to Success (BBS) and transfer services under one convenient location on the second
floor of GC’s Northen Center in Room N-200, ensuring students have the guidance and
resources they need to navigate the college experience.
The SSC features a 40-seat computer lab with 16 computers and 24 dedicated study stations,
along with 22 additional study spaces throughout the space. Students can also take
advantage of a comfortable lounge area equipped with eight chairs, two couches and
six flexible study tables. To further enhance learning and collaboration, the SSC
is outfitted with three smart screens that support interactive, hands-on instruction
and engagement.
