The Galveston College Whitecaps softball team is among the top 16 junior college teams in the nation at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Championship this week in St. George, Utah. With a 35-9 overall record, the Whitecaps qualified after advancing to the championship game of the NJCAA Region XIV tournament and being declared winner of the regionals.
The Whitecaps’ first-round opponent on Wednesday will be the Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters (22-4) at 8:30 p.m.
