Galveston College Dual Credit Cosmetology program students earned top honors at the
2026 SkillsUSA State Competition held in April.
A total of 27 students from the Galveston College Cosmetology program qualified for
the state competition, with 23 students attending and representing the college.
Students competed in a variety of cosmetology-related categories and earned multiple
recognitions for their work, professionalism and technical skills. The group’s results
included: 20 Superior ratings, one Excellent rating, one Good rating and one Best
of Show award, the highest recognition presented at the competition.
SkillsUSA is a national organization that promotes career and technical education
through leadership development and skills-based competitions for students preparing
for careers in trade, technical and service occupations.
The GC Dual Credit Cosmetology program allows high school students to earn college
credit while gaining hands-on training and industry experience in cosmetology.
