Galveston College President, W. Myles Shelton, Ed.D., was presented with the National Eagle Scout Association’s (NESA) Outstanding Eagle Scout Award on Wednesday during the regular meeting of the Galveston Community College District Board of Regents.

Scott Dick, Eagle Scout, volunteer and chair of the council’s NESA Committee, represented the Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and presented the award to Dr. Shelton, alongside GC Board of Regents Vice Chair, Fred Raschke, who is also an Eagle Scout, past council president and current executive board member.

"I'm deeply honored to receive the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award," said GC President W. Myles Shelton, Ed.D. "Scouting has been a meaningful part of my life, and my family's, for as long as I can remember. It has been a privilege to give back to the Boy Scouts of America, an organization that helps instill strong values in young people. I'm grateful to be part of a community that truly believes in service and leadership."

The NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award is a prestigious recognition granted by the Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America to Eagle Scouts who have demonstrated exceptional service and achievement at the local, state, or regional level. The award recognizes Eagle Scouts whose efforts have made a positive impact in their community and the Boy Scouts of America at great sacrifice to themselves and their families.

The Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America is based in Galveston and serves Galveston and Brazoria counties.
