The Galveston College Theatre Department will present “A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play,” based on the novella by Charles Dickens, on Dec. 5-9 in Room FA-207 of the college’s Fine Arts Building. The performances are free and open to the public.

The Charles Dickens holiday classic comes to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast, complete with vintage commercials for fruitcake (extra-fancy), and the magic of live sound effects and musical underscoring. A handful of actors bring dozens of characters to the stage, as the familiar story unfolds: Three ghosts take Ebenezer Scrooge on a thrilling journey to teach him the true meaning of Christmas. A charming take on a family favorite that will leave no one saying, “Bah Humbug!”

The classic and delightful tale is adapted for the stage by Joe Landry and the music is by Kevin Connors.

Under the direction of Liz Lacy, show dates and times for “A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play” are Dec. 5-7 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 8-9 at 2:30 p.m.

GC Theatre company members include Eva Arita, Elijah Barrie, Daniella Fink, Alyssa Gudz, Chad Keith and Jackson Pendergrass. “A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play” is presented by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.

The Galveston College Theatre Department offers a professional immersive training experience for all students within the disciplines of acting, playwrighting, directing, design and technology.
