The Galveston College Theatre Department presents “The Immortal Sherlock Holmes,” originally produced by Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre based on the play by William Gillette, which will be available online March 1-15.

Before the era of computers and television, radio provided entertainment by presenting programs of mystery, intrigue, comedy and romance. The GC Theatre will produce a nostalgic program version of “The Immortal Sherlock Holmes” which the community will be able to enjoy from the comfort of their computers and mobile devices.

Sherlock Holmes, the world’s most well-known private detective and master of deduction, has been immortalized through film and television for more than 100 years, since the infancy of these mediums. He has been portrayed by everyone from Basil Rathbone to Robert Downey Jr. The GC Theatre Department will immortalize the character further through this female-led rendition of “The Immortal Sherlock Holmes.”

The audio performance will be available March 1-15 by accessing the “The Immortal Sherlock Holmes link to listen to the production. The password to access the performance is GCSPRING24. The production is recommended for all audiences and there will be one five-minute intermission.

Company members for the production of “The Immortal Sherlock Holmes” include Eva Arita, Fiona Burton, Chad Keith, Daniella Fink, Jackson Pendergrass, Elijah Barrie, Seth Cody, Isabella Hernandez and Diamond West.

The GC Theatre Department offers a professional immersive training experience for all students within the disciplines of acting, playwrighting, directing, design and technology.  Four productions a year and a diverse range of theatre courses provide every opportunity for students to develop their theatrical skills. Scholarships are available.
