Early registration for the fall 2020 semester is underway at Galveston College. Classes begin Aug. 31.
The updated fall 2020 schedule of classes went online July 20 and reflects necessary changes in course delivery based on the college’s Framework for Fall Classes and Campus Operations.
Students have five options that fit their preferred learning style and comfort level:
• face-to-face instruction,
• hybrid synchronous (a combination of face-to-face and Zoom meetings),
• hybrid asynchronous (a combination of face-to-face and traditional online instruction),
• online synchronous via Zoom,
• traditional online asynchronous instruction, or
• a combination of the options.
Some technical and professional programs, such as Nursing, have a prescribed course delivery system.

Once inside campus facilities, faculty, staff, students and visitors are expected to maintain an appropriate social distance, as well as to continue to use facial masks or face coverings in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and city of Galveston guidelines.
“Our focus at Galveston College continues to be on the safety of our students, faculty, staff and community,” said Dr. Myles Shelton, president. “We will continue to comply with all appropriate CDC guidelines, as well as the directives of state and local officials, as we prepare for a very gradual and systematic transition back to on-campus work.”
Registration for fall 2020 classes will continue online throughout the summer. College faculty and staff will work remotely through July 31. All campus areas/offices will begin providing limited in-person services on Aug. 3.
